Metal Defender Walk Through Technology Approved by Homeland Security Safety Act

On November 24th, 2015, Metal Defender walk through technology was approved by the Department of Homeland Security for the Developmental Testing and Evaluation Designation.  After 9/11, The DHS was created by the Bush administration. As part of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, The Safety Act was created to encourage the development and deployment of effective anti-terrorism products and services.

Metal Defender provides Walk Through Metal Detectors to Government Agencies, Schools, Entertainment Venues and many more public safety deployments.

The Development Designation by DHS Safety Act is proof of Metal Defender's technology. The technology uses low frequency electromagnetic fields to aid in detecting metal-containing threat objects on screened individuals. The technology makes detections by measuring disturbances in the generated electromagnetic fields due to the presence of metal. In the event of a detection, the technology provides a visual and/or audible alarm.

"We are continuing to advance our technology," stated Jon Formella VP of Sales. "Our MD-6, MD-12 are currently undergoing the stringent NIJ testing standards. When completed we will be able to submit Metal Defender technology for DHS Safety ACT Certification."

NIJ (National Institute for Justice) publishes equipment standards that specifically address the needs of law enforcement, corrections and other criminal justice agencies.
