Killer robots, electric jets, and living on Mars.

These are just a few of the things that Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk says the future holds.

Here's a look at some of his boldest predictions about what's to come.

All forms of transport will eventually become electric.Volvo

Excluding rockets, Musk said he is convinced that all vehicles will eventually be electric.

“Aircraft and ships and all other forms of transport will go fully electric. Not half electric, but fully electric. No question,” Musk said during an interview with Marketplace in 2015.

Musk restated his bold prediction during a panel at the National Governors Association in July.

"There's no question in my mind what so ever that all transport, with the ironic exception of rockets, will go fully electric," Musk said. "Everything. Planes, trains, automobiles, all ships. But it's a question of what that timeframe is."

Autonomy will be standard in vehicles in 20 years.Thomson Reuters

In 20 years, owning a car without self-driving capabilities will be a lot like owning a horse, Musk said during Tesla's third-quarter earnings call in 2015

“I think that all cars will go fully autonomous in long-term. I think it will be quite unusual to see cars that don’t have full autonomy,” Musk said.

“Any cars that are being made that don’t have full autonomy will have negative value. It will be like owning a horse. You will only be owning it for sentimental reasons,” he added.

Musk said in July that cars will also not have steering wheels in 20 years.

Automation will make basic income more likely.Benjamin Zhang/Business Insider

"There's a pretty good chance we end up with a universal basic income, or something like that, due to automation," Musk said to CNBC last November.

"I'm not sure what else one would do. That’s what I think would happen."

In July at the National Governors Association, he reiterated this sentiment

"I think we'll end up doing universal basic income. I think it's going to be necessary," he said.
