Millions of Homeless Americans are wearing worn-out socks, and in many instances, no socks. However, Tom Cox Law is setting out to change that one foot at a time with the Cox4Sox program. Under this program, hundreds of pairs of socks will be handed out to local homeless shelters.
“There are so few luxuries in a homeless person’s life, but a dry, clean pair of socks makes a person’s day. We are also always looking for men's razors, laundry detergent (because we wash a lot of towels and bedding) and other toiletries." says Suzi deFosset, Executive Director of The Gathering Inn in Roseville, California.
Many shelters receive food donations. In fact, locally, food is provided at different parks every day of the week. In the evening, the Gathering Inn shuttles up to 75 homeless people every night to a different church in the area so they can sleep safely. The Gathering Inn also provides them with a mailing address and allows them to store a large bin full of belongings. The homeless that participate in this program must be drug free) and sober (alcohol free) and are subject to random testing.

Black socks were selected over white socks as they tend to conceal dirt much better.
